Semerkand English Magazine June issue is available with the feature article "Like a Traveler in This World.”

 

The author Hakan Öner explores the concept of life as a journey, urging us to adopt the mentality of a traveler İn this deeply reflective piece. He emphasizes the transient nature of our existence in this world and the importance of focusing on our ultimate destination - the Hereafter. He draws upon the principles of the Islamic way of life to highlight the importance of maintaining a delicate balance in our relationship with the world. He reminds us that while we are in this world, we should not be of it. We should not be captivated by its alluring sights, nor should we neglect the blessings it offers. Instead, we should use these blessings to stay on course and reach a place of safety in the afterlife.

 

The article underscores the importance of remaining vigilant of our servanthood to Allah, maintaining our identity as believers, and procuring our share of the world's bounties only through halal means. It also emphasizes the importance of performing good deeds in this world to facilitate a life of peace and bliss in the Hereafter. The author concludes by reminding us of Rasulullah’s (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) perfect example and Allah’s invitation to "the home of peace” in the afterlife, emphasizing the gravity of the journey by refering to the transcendent destination at the end.

 

Our lead author Muhammed Mübarek Elhüseyni delves into the religious significance of the city of Al-Quds and Al-Masjid al-Aqsa in Islam. He begins by asserting the value of the universe, earthly life, humankind, time, and space through the lens of Islam. He then stresses the sanctity of Jerusalem for Jews, Christians, and Muslims, arguing that Muslims, who believe in all prophets from Adam to Muhammad, peace be upon all of them, are the rightful custodians of Jerusalem. He also details the events and revelations leading to Kaabah becoming the qibla and explains why the revered Masjid al-Aqsa, the first qibla of Muslims, is sacred.
